Wellness Suite and Temazcal Treatment at Azul Blue Hotel + Spa; Fifth-Night-Free Promotion

Azul Blue is the newest, most exclusive offering from Karisma Hotels.

With 96 suites, the property is intimate and progressive, and features butler service, the most complete spa on the Riviera Maya, and sophisticated amenities.

In addition to the Gourmet Inclusive experience of five-star chefs and renowned sommeliers, guests can now take the hotel’s stress-free philosophy to a true blue level with the new Wellness Suite.

The Wellness Suite is created with a holistic approach to health which strives to balance physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Emphasizing not only physical health but peace of mind, the Wellness Suite Package fuses modern luxury with the mystical past of the nearby ancient Maya Ruins. The full-service spa features 10 treatment rooms and separate temazcal, a purifying steam-bath ritual that originated with the Mayas. Re-energize the body, relieve tension and boost circulation with the “Pacific-Mediterranean” massage or soak in the Azul Blue Water Ritual, which alternates a heat phase with a short cool phase, followed by relaxation and hydration. Experience these treatments on the beach, at the spa or in-suite.

The Wellness Suite Package at Azul Blue Hotel + Spa includes: magnetic mattress and pillows; complimentary magnetic mask by Nikken Kenko; in-room Ionizer Vitamin shower to rehydrate skin; in-suite aromatherapy menu; freshly squeezed fruit juice served daily by butler; two full-body massages per guest; one facial treatment per guest; two in-suite aroma baths; dedicated butler service; and Azul Blue Water Ritual. Suite prices start at $670 per person per night, with a five-night minimum based on double occupancy.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted with aromatic oils, wine and tranquil music. Begin the relaxation process with a vitamin shower—customized to rejuvenate and rehydrate the skin. The suite features an in-suite Jacuzzi, rain-shower heads and oversized bathrooms. Nikken mattresses and pillows were chosen for their magnetic benefits in supporting the proper structure and functioning of the body. These magnetic fields are known to stabilize the functioning of the nervous system, organs and cells.

For further purification, guests may also experience the Temazcal Treatment at Azul Blue Spa. The name Temazcal comes from two Nahuatl words: temas, which means bath, and calli, meaning house. Construction of the Temazcal at Azul Blue was overseen by a shaman, or holy man, schooled in Mayan spirituality. The beehive-shaped structure, designed to represent a microcosm of the universe, is located outside the spa. The Temazcal is an indigenous tradition that consists of entering an enclosed stone construction in which water is poured over scalding stones to create an environment similar to that of a sauna. The amount of heat and steam is carefully calibrated to release stress and toxins according to each individual’s course of treatment. Before the bath begins, each guest meets with the Temazcalera, a specially trained healer who assesses the guest’s needs of body, mind and spirit. Herbs are selected based on the Temazcalera’s diagnosis and laid on the heated rocks to infuse the air with healing aromatherapy. After completing the Temazcal ritual, the guest is wrapped in a cotton sheet and encouraged to recline in a private area of the Spa until the perspiration has ceased. To rehydrate after the ritual, the shaman offers Agua de Jamaica (distilled water, Jamaica flowers and sugar) which is prepared fresh daily.

The Temazcal Treatment at Azul Blue Spa costs $118 and is available exclusively to guests of the hotel.
