Itinerary


Day 1
Wednesday: USA to Ireland.
Depart USA for your overnight flight to Ireland. Dinner served on board.

Day 2
Thursday: Shannon - Limerick
Morning arrival at Shannon Airport, where after clearing Irish customs, we are met by our friendly Celtic Tours driver/guide. We travel the short distance to our hotel where we have some free time to rest. Mid-afternoon departure for a panoramic 2-hour tour that takes us via Quin Abbey, dating back to 1402, and Knappogue Castle. Return to Limerick hotel where this evening we enjoy a medieval castle banquet at Bunratty Castle.
Day 3
Friday: Limerick - Galway
Morning departure from Limerick, we travel north to Galway. Enroute we will make a brief bank stop to allow time to change money for the weekend ahead. Continue on via Ardrahan where we stop at an Irish working farm for tea/coffee and scones. Our visit to Rathbaun Farm lets us see a farming family at work including sheep shearing and watching the sheep dogs maneuver the flocks. We travel on to nearby Galway City. Some free time to explore Galway on our own. Galway hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Saturday: Galway - Taum - Loughrea - Galway.
Our tour today takes us via Tuam, a major ecclesiastical center for 1500 years. Associated with Turlough O’Connor, who became High King of Ireland in 1118 and made this town his capital. We continue on via Mount Bellew to Ballinasloe, a busy market town and location of the oldest horse fair in Europe. Turning westward to the medieval town of Loughrea, we pause to visit St. Brendan’s Cathedral, a showcase for the Celtic Arts and Crafts Revival. Return to Galway where we have some free time before dinner at our hotel. Overnight in Galway. Evening is free for optional visits to the many music pubs in Galway.
Day 5
Sunday: Galway - Cliffs of Moher - Killarney
Leaving Galway, we travel south along the Atlantic Coast via the majestic Cliffs of Moher, where we pause for a photo opportunity. Onwards to Liscannor, birthplace of John Holland, inventor of the submarine, to Lahinch and Kilrush, where we cross the Shannon River by ferry to County Kerry. Continue on to Killarney for dinner and overnight. Evening is free for optional pub entertainment.
Day 6
Monday: Killarney - Dingle Peninsula
Today we enjoy a drive along the Kerry coast to the Dingle Peninsula, which offers magnificent coastal scenery. Beyond Slea Head, we see the Blasket Islands, the last outpost of Europe. We return to Killarney for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Tuesday: Killarney - Shannon Airport
Early morning departure for Shannon Airport and our return flight home. Tour ends at approximately 8:15 a.m. Ample time allowed for last minute duty-free shopping before boarding our flight home. We arrive home the same day.
